A Little About Us
Come and fish in France with no other fishermen to distract you, and combine your favourite sport with a memorable holiday in the heart of the beautiful Perigord/Limousin National Park.
Le Bel Etang is a three acre, well stocked lake, halfway between Limoges and Perigueux, and is approximately 7-8hrs drive from Calais or 7hrs from Le Havre. The lake is set deep in the heart of deciduous woodland, with an abundance of wildlife. A recently restored chalet with a wide covered terrace, is set on a bank overlooking the 3+ acre lake. It provides the ideal setting for a peaceful holiday, and with the added attraction of undisturbed 24-hour fishing in well stocked water, with large carp in excess of 45lb, many 30’s and 20’s, tench, roach, perch, pike, zander, gudgeon and rudd.
The lake was originally stocked with large carp in 1994, including leathers, commons and mirrors. There was already an existing stock of carp, the extent of which is unknown. The largest carp to date has been a 50lb mirror and the largest tench to date is 9lbs+. The lake is snag free, has access at all points with plenty of bank space for bivvying-up. The water shelves to a depth of about 4 metres, but one side slopes in gently. For convenience, we recommend that no more than 4 people fish at any one time.
We have a closed season on our lake from the end of November to the end of February, during which period the fish are fed and this allows them to have plenty of rest and recuperate from the season’s fishing. We also leave the occasional week free during the letting period to maintain a high fishing standard and prevent overfeeding. The three acres of land surrounding the lake is entirely fenced. This ensures that night fishing can be enjoyed without interruption.
